Father-Son Program

Father-Son Project

About

The Father-Son Program (FSP) is focused on improving the father-son dynamic, offering participants the opportunity to strengthen their father-son bond and to engage in educational activities and shared learning. The Father-Son Program targets males in the sixth, seventh or eighth-grade level, and their fathers.

Program Model

The father-son program encourages and supports the completion of high school as well as the pursuit of higher education, specifically with an interest in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) while strengthening the father-son bond through the learning process. 

  • 3 School Based Sessions (Sons only)
  • 4 Evening Based Sessions (Fathers & Sons)
  • 3 Main Events 

Special Events

  • Kick Off
  • Building Ties Conference
  • Community Service
  • Closing Ceremony

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible to apply, students should:

  • Be enrolled at a participating campus (contact UTRGV P16 Office for an updated list, 956-665-2080)

  • Be entering 6th, 7th  or 8th  grade

  • Complete a UTRGV FSP application
