Welcome
The Border Studies Archive (BSA) is a research and data-driven repository dedicated to documenting the complex dynamics of the U.S.–Mexico border region, with a focus on South Texas. Housed within the University Library and affiliated with the Department of Anthropology at the UTRGV, BSA supports interdisciplinary scholarship by preserving and curating collections that capture the socio-political, environmental, and historical forces shaping life along the border.
Our holdings include records on cross-border infrastructure and planning, environmental justice and contamination, oral histories of migration and governance, regional health and equity, visual documentation of militarization and surveillance, and applied research on land tenure and policy, among other critical topics shaping the U.S.–Mexico border region. These collections serve students, scholars, and practitioners seeking a deeper, evidence-based understanding of the borderlands.
