Media Equipment Guidelines

Currently enrolled students and currently employed faculty and staff are eligible to borrow media materials and equipment. The University Library offers laptop computers, camcorders, audio recorders and other media-related equipment for checkout.

Library media materials and devices may be checked out according to the following loan rules:

  • All borrowers must present their current UTRGV (or TSC) photo identification at the time of checkout.
  • The borrower's library account must be active and clear of fines and overdue materials.
  • Borrowers are responsible for all materials, equipment, and accessories checked out on their library account.
  • Lending of materials ends one hour before the Library closes.
  • All media and equipment must be returned before the end of the loan period. Failure to do so will result in:
    • Late fees for overdue materials.
    • A hold placed on the user's library account, preventing circulation of all library materials.
  • UTRGV credentials are required for login and use of laptops and tablets.

ILL and TexShare

Interlibrary Loan and TexShare patrons are not eligible to borrow media materials and devices with the exception of books with supplementary CDs.

Third-party checkouts

If a faculty or staff member wishes to send a student or staff worker to check out media on their behalf, then their representative must present the following:

  • The faculty member's UTRGV (or TSC) ID.
  • A note on a departmental letterhead signed by the faculty or staff member granting permission for the representative to check out on their behalf.
