Reserve a Study Room

Need a study room? The Library is now taking reservations for groups of up to 4 in Harlingen, 8 in Brownsville, and 16 in Edinburg. Groups of 16+ please contact library administration. Reserve a room now through our convenient room reservation system. Once you reserve a room, you will receive an email requesting that you confirm your reservation. If you do not confirm your reservation, your room will not be reserved. Please make sure to confirm your reservation!

COVID-19 Update: The School of Medicine Libraries will re-open on Monday, June 1. Hours will be Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Study room capacities will be reduced to align with social distancing recommendations. Please take note of new room capacities when making a reservation. We appreciate your cooperation.

Study Room Policies & Guidelines

Bookings

You must confirm your study room reservation by clicking the confirmation link sent to your UTRGV email account. Study rooms may be reserved:

In Brownsville:

  1. For individual students or groups.
  2. In three (1)-hour increments.
  3. Up to three (3) days in advance.

In Edinburg:

  1. For groups of three (3) or more students.
  2. In two (2)-hour increments.
  3. Up to three (3) days in advance.

Your reservation will be canceled and made available to other students:

  1. If you fail to confirm your study room reservation.
  2. If you are late or fail to occupy the study room within 10 minutes after the start of the reservation time.
  3. In Edinburg, if only one member of the group is present. Groups of less than three students could be asked to vacate the room for use by another group.
  4. If you are sleeping in the study room. You will be asked to vacate the room for use by another study group.

If there are no other reservations scheduled, then a group can continue to use the room they are occupying by making another study room reservation. All study room reservations end 30 minutes prior to the library closing.

Whiteboard/Glassboard

  • Each study room is equipped with a whiteboard or glass board.
  • Do NOT USE outside markers on the boards.
  • Markers and supplies are available for checkout at the Library and Research Services Desk in Brownsville and at the closest service desk in Edinburg. Be prepared to present UTRGV ID.
  • If utilized, please erase the board.

Safety & Security

  • For emergencies contact Campus Police, (956) 882-4911 or 911.
  • The lights must remain on at all times.
  • Do not lock study room doors.
  • Do not cover doors or windows.
  • Do not rearrange the room layout by moving furniture in or out of the study rooms.
  • Do not exceed the recommended room capacity.
  • Bean bag chairs are not allowed in the study rooms.
  • Vacate study rooms 30 minutes before the library closes.
  • Please do not leave items unattended in the study rooms. You are solely responsible for your personal belongings. Unattended items will be collected by library staff and will be turned over to Campus Police, (956) 882-4911.

Best Practices

  • Be courteous and vacate the study room promptly when your time is up, gathering your belongings and properly disposing of trash.
  • Be respectful of your fellow students as study rooms are not sound-proof.
  • Study rooms are in high demand; save other activities like napping for elsewhere.
  • Report disruptive behavior or misuse of study rooms to library staff via email, text, or chat.
