Become a Member
The Border Studies Archive (BSA) invites UTRGV students to become members of our growing research community dedicated to documenting, preserving, and sharing the stories of the borderlands. Membership is open to students from all majors who are curious about the people, places, and cultures that shape life along the U.S.–Mexico border. Whether you’re interested in anthropology, public health, environmentalism, sociology, or the arts, the BSAoffers a space to learn, collaborate, and create.
As a member, you’ll have opportunities to:
- Engage in original borderlands research by applying ethnographic, qualitative, archival, and interdisciplinary methods to study issues such as migration, health, environment, identity, and social justice along the U.S.–Mexico border.
- Develop storytelling and digital skills by helping expand our collections, and creating exhibits or visual narratives that bring local histories to life.
- Utilize the BSA's workspace and equipment to support research design, documentation, and dissemination — including audio recorders, scanners, cameras, and other tools available for short-term checkout.
Applications open each semester and can be renewed as long as you are enrolled at UTRGV. Members are encouraged to participate in BSA meetups, community events, and collaborative projects that strengthen our collective understanding of border life.
Be part of a community that values research, collaboration, and the power of student voices in preserving the borderlands.
