RIO GRANDE VALLEY, TEXAS – DEC. 8, 2017– It really is beginning to look a lot like Christmas, as snow falls on UTRGV campuses and locations from Brownsville to Edinburg and beyond.
Various spots throughout the Rio Grande Valley received anywhere from a dusting of the white stuff to up to two to three inches, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). The last time the Valley experienced snow was Dec. 24, 2004, when the Brownsville area got about an inch and a half and other parts received a bit more snow, said Robert Frye, a meteorologist from the NWS in Brownsville.

EDINBURG, TEXAS – AUG. 31, 2017 – The Performing Arts Complex on the Edinburg Campus will be filled with the sounds of legendary bassist and two-time Grammy award winner Eddie Gomez and his Jazz Trio, 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11.
Gomez will open the 2017-2018 Patron of the Arts season, which promises a great lineup of distinguished guest artists, faculty and student concerts scheduled throughout the year at venues in Edinburg and Brownsville.

EDINBURG, TEXAS – JULY 25, 2017- The day began early, as a team of UTRGV faculty and staff set about creating a community butterfly garden, part of a project to beautify the atrium in the College of Education and P-16 Integration (CEP) atrium in Edinburg.
The group, which included Dr. Patricia McHatton, dean of the CEP, met with 20 members of Unidos Por RGV on Saturday, July 15, to dig in on the new garden. Unidos Por RGV works collaboratively with UTRGV to advance community engagement, one of UTRGV’s core priorities.
