Recruiting Interns
Prelaunch and Hiring
When you’re ready to recruit, post your internship on 12twenty. 12twenty is UTRGV’s official job and internship recruitment platform, where qualified students can explore and apply for opportunities aligned with their academic and career interests.
The interview, selection, and onboarding process represents the culmination of your team’s preparation and signals your commitment to delivering a meaningful and well-structured internship experience.
Getting Started:
- Develop a job description for your internship position, identifying learning objectives and clear goals for achievement. Keep in mind that 50% or more of the intern's tasks should be career-related or industry-focused.
- Review our Internship Listing Agreement and Internship Guidelines to ensure your position meets UTRGV recruitment and approval policies.
- Post your internship in 12twenty. All internship postings will be reviewed for approval by Career Center staff.
To discuss a more tailored recruiting plan, we encourage you to schedule an employer recruiting consultation with our Employer Relations team. You may email careercenter@utrgv.edu to connect with one of our team members.
Best Practices for Campus Recruiting
For in-person campus recruiting events, such as career fairs or information sessions, assemble a team of well-informed, personable, and enthusiastic recruiters who can answer questions. This group of employees should include both recent graduates and seasoned individuals.
If you have identified alumni of the university working with the organization and employer representatives, bringing them to on-campus recruiting events is encouraged as they can share their personal experiences with current students. While having students talk with young professionals who recently graduated from the university can be a productive approach, seasoned, higher-level employees have vital information to share with college students who want to learn about a potentially long-lasting career at a company.
Bring current interns! Interns can bring a fresh perspective and share information their peers want to hear such as approaches to applying, company culture, and work experiences.
