UTRGV Career Center has created the Handshake system that will facilitate communication between students and potential employers.
Becoming a part of this network is very easy, and is free of charge. Take advantage of these services:
- post your resume
- review job openings
- review companies profiles
- apply for jobs on-line
- communicate with employers meeting your search criteria
- and conduct interview sessions on campus amongst others
Students will also have the opportunity to learn about job fairs and learn about the employers that will be in our campus recruiting.
The process of registering with Handshake takes about 5 minutes. To get started take the following steps:
- Log in to my.utrgv.edu
- in your portal, select and click the Handshake icon
In addition to the Handshake, the Career Center can assist you in preparing for that job you want.
Career Advisors are trained to answer career planning and job search questions and can assist you in accessing our print and computer resources. To speak with someone, you can visit the Career Center offices. Make an appointment or connect with us during our Virtual Career Center Hours.
Receive assistance in exploring career goals and job search preparation which includes: resume writing, interviewing, and job search strategies. Attend one of our workshops and meet with a Career Advisor; practice interviewing techniques and use self-assessment software programs to explore career options.
Employment Opportunities/Job Expos
Take advantage of Handshake, the university's job and event management platform. Handshake allows students to view and apply to part-time and full-time internships and jobs on or off campus. In addition, various companies attend on campus job fairs/expos and conduct job and internship interviews each semester.
Graduate School Opportunities
In order to help you explore various graduate schools, we offer graduate fairs, individual advising, and an extensive library of catalogs. Learn about admission tests, scholarships, writing personal statements and preparing for interviews.
