The Environmental Health, Safety, and Risk Management (EHSRM) Department at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is responsible for promoting a safe and healthy work environment across all university properties and ensuring compliance with a vast array of federal, state, and local regulations.
Environmental Health Safety and Risk Management oversees Learning Coordination, Occupational Health and Safety, Fire and Facilities, Laboratory Safety, Research and Clinical Support, Environmental Protection, and Risk Management and Insurance.

The mission of the Department of EHSRM is to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for the campus community, promote safe work practices that do not harm the environment, ensure compliance with any and all rules and regulations pertaining to occupational health and safety and the environment, and to protect the University’s resources through sound administration of the University’s insurance coverage.
