The University Police Department (UPD) is UTRGV's full-service law enforcement agency, dedicated to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment across all campuses and centers in the Rio Grande Valley. UPD officers are commissioned peace officers who serve with professionalism, integrity, and respect. 

Campus Safety and Patrol

• UPD provides 24/7 patrol and response services, ensuring the safety of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. Officers are trained to handle emergencies, investigate incidents, and assist with campus safety concerns.

Emergency Response

• Working closely with UTRGV Emergency Management, UPD coordinates preparedness and response efforts for natural disasters, medical emergencies, and critical incidents.

24/7 Assistance

• The UPD dispatch center operates around the clock, connecting the campus community to immediate help and information whenever needed.

Community Partnership

• Through outreach programs, safety presentations, and student engagement, UPD fosters trust and collaboration to strengthen campus safety culture.

• UPD supports tools like emergency call boxes, safety escorts, and mobile safety apps that help Vaqueros stay informed and connected.
