Staff Awards

Purpose

UTRGV SOM & UT Health RGV want to recognize outstanding staff members across the organizations. Multiple award types will be proposed to highlight different levels of achievement and contributions to the SOM & UT Health RGV.

Eligibility

  • Full-time classified, administrative and professional staff
  • One (1) year of uninterrupted service
  • Employee must be in good standing and have an evaluation on file
  • Internal and external nominations will be accepted
  • Have made an impact and/or displayed one or more of the traits found in the:

    • SOM’s Five Pillars AND
    • SOM’s Values

Selection Committee

  • The selection committee will be responsible for reviewing the received nominations and forwarding final recommendations to the Dean.
  • Committee will be composed of representatives from the ISU’s, SOM Staff Senate, SOM HR, and other core leadership areas.
  • Committee members will serve on a yearly basis and can choose to continue to serve or nominate replacing members.

Awards

  • UTRGV SOM / UT Health RGV Excellence (Individual) – Employees who have displayed exceptional service in their role; 3 recipients per award period.
  • UTRGV SOM / UT Health RGV Team Excellence Award – Teams who have displayed exceptional service in their environment; 1 Team to be recognized per award period.
  • UTRGV SOM / UT Health RGV Outward Mindset (Team, Individual)– Committee would select any award recipient from any category based on the recipient’s ability to serve as a role model, think outside their subject area, and inspire others.

Award Ceremony: At the annual award ceremony, award recipients will be recognized in person following an in-person dinner/luncheon.

Award Nomination Process

  • Any UTRGV student, faculty, staff or other affiliated member as well as members of the general public who have been assisted by a SOM and/or UT Health RGV staff/team member can submit nominations via the following links:

  • Selection Committee will meet at their appointed times to review and approve nominations.
