Staff Announcement from the President

Dear Colleagues:
I am pleased to announce that Isabel Benavides has accepted the position of Chief Compliance Officer. She begins her new duties on Monday, July 17, and will succeed and report to Samantha Allen, who has been serving as my Chief of Staff since April.
Isabel has been a dedicated member of the Rio Grande Valley community throughout her career. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from our legacy institution — The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) — she gained valuable professional experience in the private sector before starting her career in higher education. Since 1999, Isabel has served in numerous audit, compliance, and finance roles, previously at UTPA and now at UTRGV. She is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP), and currently serves as Secretary of the Rio Grande Valley Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
Isabel expects to complete her master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from UTRGV this December.
