Grants
You may now receive full Federal Pell Grant funds for Summer 2025, even if you received a full Federal Pell Grant during the Fall and Spring semesters. Summer Pell will make it more affordable for you to enroll in the summer, and you can finish your degree faster.
Requirements:

- Enroll in either Summer I or Summer II terms
Important Note: The amount of Federal Pell Grant funds is limited by federal law to 12 full-time semesters. You can log on to nslds.ed.gov to view your Pell Grant Lifetime Eligibility Used (LEU).
UTRGV Financial Aid Office will review student records to determine eligibility for a Summer Pell award. Summer awards will be based on full-time enrollment, and award amounts will be adjusted or cancelled once enrollment is confirmed and academic progress is reviewed. You will be notified by email once the Summer awards are complete, and you can review your award via your ASSIST account at my.utrgv.edu.

Up to $4,000 per year is available for the first baccalaureate, to a maximum of $16,000 over four years. Although students can receive up to $4,000 per year, the amount is prorated by semester and by enrollment status.

Learn more about the Federal TEACH Grant.The Towards Excellence, Access and Success (TEXAS) Grant is offered to ensure that well-prepared high school graduates with financial need can attend public institutions of higher education in Texas. Recipients must be Texas residents, never convicted of a felony or crime involving a controlled substance, demonstrate financial need, have an estimated family contribution less than or equal to the state-mandated SAI cap, and be registered for the Selective Service or exempt from this requirement.
Recipients must also be a graduate of an accredited high school in Texas not earlier than the 1998-99 school year, complete the recommended high school program or Distinguished Achievement program in high school, enrolled in a non-profit public college or university in Texas within 16 months of graduation from a public or accredited private high school in Texas, and have accumulated no more than 30 semester credit hours, excluding those earned for dual or concurrent courses or awarded for credit by examination (AP, IB, or CLEP).

The Texas Public Educational Grant (TPEG) is a campus-based grant for undergraduate and graduate students with demonstrated financial need. TPEG Grants are typically awarded until funds are exhausted, so it is to the student’s advantage to complete the FAFSA as early as possible. Awards usually range from $100 to $1,250 based on the student’s needs. A minimum enrollment of 6 hours is required.

**For an explanation of financial need, please refer to our FAQ section.The Bilingual Education Program is designed to support students in educator preparation programs who want to earn a teaching certification in bilingual education, English as a Second Language (ESL), or Spanish, especially for public school districts in Texas where these skills are most needed. This grant provides financial help through tuition assistance.
To qualify, you need to be a Texas resident, enrolled in a Teacher Education Program (in Bilingual Education, ESL, or Spanish) at a participating institution, show financial need, have at least a 3.0 GPA, and meet Selective Service requirements (if applicable).
