Looking for an internship? How about volunteering in a community project? Or even enrolling in a service-learning course?
During your advising session, you’ll have an opportunity to ask about an academic adventure of your interest, review how these outstanding educational options may be woven into your degree pathway and connect with the right office to make these experiences happen! As a future UTRGV graduate, you’ll do more than stand up! You’ll stand apart!
Undergraduate Research
As an undergraduate, you have an opportunity to conduct research that contributes to a larger conversation in your discipline. Some of this research may be integrated into or stem from your coursework. By conducting undergraduate research, you have the opportunity to gain experience, credibility, and feedback from your peers and faculty mentors.
Service Learning
Step outside the classroom and experience a new level of learning! Service Learning is a thoughtfully organized service experience that addresses a need in the community in a reciprocal and mutually beneficial relationship and integrates a reflective component that relates the service experience to academic course objectives and the student’s learning.
Volunteer
Volunteering offers vital help to people in need, worthwhile causes, and the community, but the benefits can be even greater for you, the volunteer. Volunteering and helping others can help you reduce stress, combat depression, keep you mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose. Giving in even simple ways can help others those in need and improve your health and happiness.
Study Abroad
Completing a college degree is about growth and transformation. Studying abroad is a high-impact learning experience that will evolve the way you think about the world. You will be immersed in a new culture and will visit the sites that you are reading about in your course work.
Internships
With graduation in view, Vaqueros planning to enter the permanent work force should complement their academic preparation with an internship. An internship offers you the chance to learn by doing in a setting where you are supervised by a work-place professional, and have the opportunity to achieve your own learning goals, without the responsibilities of being a permanent employee.
