Grade Point Average (GPA) Calculator

Your Grade Point Average (GPA) is one of many important institutional requirements that affect your path to graduation. To help you track and progress towards graduation, the GPA Calculator provides you an opportunity to project your semester GPA, estimate the impact a repeated course will have on your cumulative GPA, and help you set a more realistic academic plan to achieve a specific cumulative GPA.

Grading Scale

Letter grade and grade point values
Letter Grade Grade Points
A 4.00
B 3.00
C 2.00
D 1.00
F 0.00

As you work with this helpful advising tool, you will want to keep the following in mind.
  • These GPA calculations are unofficial. For your official GPA, please contact the Registrar's Office.
  • If this is your first term at UTRGV, either as an entering freshman or a transfer student, you will not have a UTRGV GPA until all your grades have been posted at the end of the term. Your GPA for the first semester will also be your cumulative GPA at UTRGV. This cumulative GPA will change based on the grades you receive in subsequent terms.
  • If you are a continuing student or have earned credit for UTRGV coursework, you will need to know your Cumulative GPA and your GPA Hours to use the GPA calculator. Your information is available to you by logging into the secure area of MyUTRGV.

Step 1: Enter Your Current Cumulative GPA and Total GPA Hours

To see how your anticipated semester grades will affect your cumulative GPA, enter your current official UTRGV cumulative GPA and the total amount of GPA hours.
