Review Your Academic Advising Center Policies
We are excited to welcome you to the Academic Advising Center! Before you schedule your advising session, we want to make you aware of a few policies.
- Be Sure To Schedule Your Advising Session At Least 24 Hours In Advance. In doing so, you will be able to properly prepare for your session and your advisor will have the needed time to review your academic history and progress.
- Be Sure To Arrive At Least 10 Minutes Before Your Advising Session. By arriving early, you will have time to park your car, find your advising session location, and check in at the front desk to let your advisor know you’ve arrived. Students who call ahead and inform the Academic Advising Center that they will be late may be able to be seen at the advisor’s discretion. Please note that if you arrive 5 minutes late with no advanced notice to the Academic Advising Center your advising session will be cancelled and you will be responsible for rescheduling.
- Be Sure To Bring Your UTRGV Student ID Card. Your academic records are your academic records. And we naturally want to do our best to take care of your record. One of the ways we do that is by checking your UTRGV Student ID Card when you check in at the Academic Advising Center front desk. This simple step ensures we confirm who you are and provides you a level of confidence that your academic record is discussed only with you.
- Be Sure Your Final And Official Transcripts Have Been Submitted To Undergraduate Admissions. Upon the completion of your course work at your current institution, you’ll want to ensure you request that your official transcript be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for evaluation. After your transcript has been evaluated, you and your advisor will review your accepted course work, begin conversations about your program of study and ensure your advising session is based on your most up to date academic record at UTRGV.
- Be Sure Your Final TSI Assessment Scores Have Been Submitted To Undergraduate Admissions. As you complete your admissions process, you’ll want to ensure your TSI assessment scores have been submitted to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions for processing. With your scores on record, you’ll work with your advisor to ensure you are placed in the proper course work for the upcoming term.
