Study Abroad

Studying abroad is for everyone. Every year UTRGV students overcome barriers to achieve their dream to journey abroad and discover the world.

Why Study Abroad Matters

Academics

Completing a college degree is about growth and transformation. Studying abroad is a high-impact learning experience that will force you to change the way you think about the world. You will be immersed in a new culture and will visit the sites that you are reading about in your course work. Students that engage in study abroad return to their degree program more motivated and more engaged.

Personal Growth

Study abroad students undergo tremendous personal growth because of their experiences abroad. Immersing yourself in a new culture with different perspectives, a different language, and different values causes you to reflect on your own culture and perspective. Students that go abroad return transformed by the experience. They have greater cultural awareness. Studying abroad is also highly regarded by employers and professional schools.
