Upcoming Campus Climate Survey: Great Colleges to Work For

March 1, 2024

UTRGV. 2024 Great Colleges To Work For

Dear Faculty and Staff,

UTRGV is participating in the Great Colleges to Work For® program, a national survey designed to recognize institutions that have made great workplaces. While we have not participated in the program before, UTRGV employees and students took part in similar campus climate surveys in 2021 and 2018, also administered by ModernThink LLC, an independent management consulting firm focusing on workplace quality in higher education. In the most recent survey, UTRGV scored results that were shocking in terms of improvement and virtually “unheard of”, according to ModernThink. Regardless of how we score, the data we receive from this survey will provide insights and allow us to build upon our campus climate initiatives, helping continue the process of making UTRGV the best workplace possible.

How will I know if I am selected?

On March 4, the survey will be distributed to a random selection of 600 full-time UTRGV employees, including the School of Medicine. If you are included in this random sample, you will receive an invitation with details about the program and how to access the survey. This invitation will be sent to you via email from “Great Colleges”.

Why should I participate?

While surveys are great tools, they are only useful if we get a significant response rate and then do something with the data. Just like the last two climate surveys, UTRGV is committed to addressing the areas of opportunity identified in this survey with data-driven actions. So, if you receive the invitation, please take a moment to complete the survey. After all, you will be representing not only yourself, but all your colleagues. This is a chance to make your voice heard, and a high response rate helps ensure an accurate representation of our community. At the program’s close, we will receive — and share — topline reports that summarize the organizational competencies and relationships that most directly impact and influence our culture. This survey is voluntary and completely confidential. UTRGV will not be able to trace results back to any individuals.

How do I submit my survey?

Your invitation to take the survey will come by email with the subject line “Great Colleges to Work For 2024 Faculty/Staff Survey.” Everyone who is selected to access the survey will have the same usernames, but unique passwords. For this reason, you should not forward your survey to any colleagues. Surveys will once again be processed by ModernThink.

Can I share feedback if I am not selected for the survey?

Yes! There is a channel under UTRGV Announcements on Microsoft Teams titled “2024 Great Colleges to Work For” where employees are invited to publicly share what they believe makes UTRGV a great place to work. Please share any additional feedback with your respective supervisors, your campus climate action planning teams, or your campus climate liaison.

This is an incredible opportunity to share your honest feedback about working at UTRGV. Again, thank you for everything you do to elevate UTRGV as an academic institution and as a place of employment. Please contact UTRGV’s survey coordinator Nicole Englitsch at Nicole.englitsch@utrgv.edu, reach out to ModernThink at 888.684.4658 or at surveys@modernthink.net, or visit GreatCollegesProgram.com if you have any questions.
