UTRGV Annual Report 2020-2021

Creating Value in Higher Education

April 6, 2022

Dear UTRGV Family:

We are pleased to share with you the UTRGV 2020 - 2021 Annual Report. As you can see, this has been a tremendous year for UTRGV despite the continuing disruptions of the pandemic. The successes of the institution are all due to you and your hard work. It is difficult to overestimate your effort, your dedication, and your passion for UTRGV. We are deeply grateful for everything you do.

As you first may have noticed in a March 3 email by Dr. Janna Arney, our executive vice president and provost, UTRGV is also fully committed to developing and enhancing our infrastructure. As that message noted, we have committed approximately $55 million to addressing the University’s academic infrastructure. These projects include the construction of new space as well as the repurposing and renovation of existing space to significantly enhance our working and learning environment.

You will soon receive a message that details how we are also upgrading our intercollegiate athletics facilities over the next three years. This $30 million investment, made possible entirely by increased fundraising, ticket sales, and other athletic revenue streams, will be important for enhancing campus life at UTRGV. As you probably know, neither tuition dollars nor state appropriations may be used to support UTRGV athletics per state law. These projects are the result of the efforts of our athletics director, Chasse Conque, and his team.

Along with our commitment to enhancing compensation for our faculty, staff and student workers, these efforts represent initiatives that will help make UTRGV a better place for all of us. Thank you for your hard work, your dedication and everything you do to make UTRGV a great place to be.

Sincerely,

Guy Bailey, Ph.D.
President
