Message from the President

January 18, 2022

Dear Colleagues:

Dr. Parwinder Grewal has decided to step down from his position as Executive Vice President for Research, Graduate Studies, and New Program Development for personal reasons, effective January 17, 2022. He will serve as Special Assistant to the President through August 31, 2022, after which he will return to his tenured faculty position in the College of Sciences. As we work through the transition, further information will be provided.

We are deeply appreciative to Dr. Grewal for the service and leadership he has provided to the division and the university. He joined UTRGV in 2015 as the inaugural dean of the College of Sciences and has held his current position since April 2018.

"I have been very fortunate to have the opportunity to work with great faculty, staff, students, and community members to develop and establish new and forward-thinking undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. programs; recruit outstanding faculty and students; significantly increase enrollment; expand graduate and online education; build transformative student engagement and professional development mechanisms; expand research and community engagement; and bring new financial resources to the university," Grewal said. "UTRGV has a lot of potential, and it has been my honor to play a small part in its growth."

Sincerely,

Guy Bailey
President
