Last weekend we graduated 3,400 students in seven ceremonies over two days. This amazing accomplishment would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of our faculty and staff members. Each of you plays a role, big or small, in helping our students complete their academic journey, and I hope you take pride in that responsibility. As for the ceremonies, seven is the most that we have ever had at UTRGV, and they were all planned and executed beautifully. That also deserves a huge thank you to everyone who helped ensure our ceremonies were a success.
I truly appreciate everyone’s hard work in helping UTRGV experience another successful semester. Have a great summer, and thanks for your continued dedication to our students.

MBA grad survives health challenge, now helps other UTRGV students succeed
While Griselda Muñoz worked on her degree she was diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was benign, but her drive to survive, to move forward with her life, never wavered. She fought not only to regain her health, but also kept working toward her MBA.
Striving for better: Graduate ready for next chapter
Raquel Perez, a UTRGV graduate and future educator embraced her roots as a migrant farmworker, and said she appreciated the inspiration and motivation her parents gave her to continue her educational journey.
Commencement is a family affair for twin sisters
Jahdiel Salazar and Josabeth Navarro are not afraid to get their hands dirty. The fraternal twin sisters each accepted her bachelor’s degree in environmental science, after taking every class together along the way.

The youngest graduates at UTRGV Spring Commencement were 79 area high school students who walked across the stage to accept their high school diplomas, along with two years of college credits they earned from the Math and Science Academy.
