Message from the President

Dear Campus Community:
On Tuesday, Governor Greg Abbott imposed an immediate hiring freeze for all state agencies through the end of August. As of now, positions funded with state appropriated funds will not be filled if they become vacant.
The freeze will clearly impact our university, but we have not yet determined to what extent. It is important to note that UTRGV has a variety of funding sources; thus, we will be analyzing the full extent of the impact to our institution.
We are working with The University of Texas System to assess the overall impact this freeze will have on our operations, and will provide more details as they become available.
