Message from the President

Dear Colleagues,

As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, this fall has already proven to be one of the strongest starts in our history. UTRGV has once again been ranked the #1 University in Texas by Washington Monthly — now for the third straight year — and we were named one of America's Great Colleges to Work For® for the second consecutive year. We set new milestones in enrollment and surpassed $300 million in total fundraising and $100 million in research expenditures, reinforcing UTRGV’s standing as one of the most impactful and innovative universities in both Texas and the nation.

None of these achievements would be possible without the dedication, talent, and heart of our faculty and staff. You are the driving force behind our success, and it is important to us that your contributions are recognized and rewarded.

Today, we are proud to announce a 3% merit program for qualifying faculty and staff, a $9 million investment in our employees this fiscal year. These adjustments will take effect November 1, and qualifying employees will see the increase reflected in their November paycheck, which will be issued on December 1 — just in time for the holiday season.

Detailed guidelines outlining the implementation of these salary adjustments will be sent across the institution soon. Once finalized, every employee earning an adjustment will receive a personalized letter outlining their total increase.

This marks the tenth straight year that UTRGV has invested in either merit or market equity adjustments for our employees. Altogether, we have invested more than $80 million in salary increases for faculty and staff since our founding and added more than 1,500 new positions to support our growing mission.
