Parent Initiatives
Service and support does not stop at school. UTRGV Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) believes that families are crucial to a students success in K-12 and University. School coordinators are in charge with holding regular parent meetings that educate and empower families to create and support a college and career going culture at home.

UTRGV Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate (GEAR UP) openly engages parents to better understand and support the needs of our cohort families. Coordinators work diligently to establish a Parent Leadership Council that will advise central GEAR UP staff on grant decisions.
