Highlights/Upcoming Dates:

UTRGV Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) regularly recognizes the achievements of it's target schools at monthly project meetings with district personnel.  Below are some recent accomplishments that have been recognized in the community. 

UTRGV GEAR UP Parent Conference

Summer Camps 

June 4-6, 2019 @ Edinburg campus for Edinburg & La Joya 

June 11-13, 2019 @ Brownsville campus for Brownsville

Garcia Middle School

Congratulations to Garcia MS Gators from Brownsville ISD.  They won 1st place in the Middle School Division, at the 2019 UTRGV South Texas Electric Car Competition on April 5th.

Lorenzo De Zavala Visits State Capitol

Eight grade students from Lorenzo De Zavala Middle School at La Joya ISD were invited by State Representative Oscar Longoria to attend legislative session in Austin.

Eighth grade students from Lorenzo De Zavala middle school at La Joya ISD have advanced to the state Science fair to be held at College Station in March. 

HESTEC 

Gladys Enriquez and Dr. Claudia Mar have been named the Exxon Mobile UTRGV HESTEC Math and Science Teachers of the year respectively.  

SEEDS

Recently, 65 students form campuses across the valley participates in a 3-day residential leadership camp at UTRGV.
