Student Committees
Committees provide an important university structure for partnership, representation of the student's voice, and shared decision-making. There are 50+ student representative positions for university committees. Students are appointed to serve from September through August.
The Student Government Association is responsible for appointing students. Students can apply on the Student Representatives for UTRGV Committees page on VLink.
Distinguished Speaker Series Committee
The committee aims to provide the university and surrounding community with world-class speakers and lecturers.

Handbook of Operating Procedures Committee
The committee has responsibility for conducting a review of new or amended policies for the UTRGV Handbook of Operating Procedures (HOP). The HOP contains policies and procedures for the governance of the university, as required by the UT System Regents’ Rules (Rule 20201: Presidents, Sec. 4.9).

Parking and Traffic Advisory Committee
The purpose of the Parking & Traffic Advisory Committee (PTAC) is to review parking and traffic regulations and to develop recommendations for revisions in these regulations as are necessary to an efficient parking and traffic system as it relates to differential parking zones, parking fees, penalties for violations of regulations, arrangements for bicycles, motorcycles, and pedestrian traffic.

Pride and Traditions Committee

Student Service Fee Advisory Committee
The purpose of the Student Fee Advisory Committee (SFAC) is to advise the university president on the allocation of the student services fee.

Student Union Advisory Board
The purpose of the Student Union Advisory Board (SUAB) is to advise the administration regarding the use of Student Union fees as prescribed by statute, to recommend general and specific policies, to guide the programming officers and committees, and to advise operating departments.

Title IX Committee
The Title IX Committee was created to allow students, faculty, and staff to address equity-related issues on campus. The Title IX Committee assists the coordinator with compliance efforts and provides advice on promoting a campus culture of respect and responsibility and identifying and deploying effective measures to prevent and address sexual misconduct.

University Food Services Advisory Committee
The purpose of the University Food Services Advisory Committee is to ensure compliance with Section 51.945 of the Texas Education Code, which requires the institution to obtain meaningful input from students regarding the qualifications for, and the award or renewal of, a contract for any vendor of food services engaged principally to serve students faculty and staff, or to provide campus-wide vending for food or beverage products.

University Recreation Advisory Committee
The purpose of the University Recreation Advisory Committee is to maintain a communication link between Wellness and Recreational Sports participants (Intramural, Open Recreation, Sports Clubs, Special Events/Outreach, and Fitness/Wellness) and the management staff to obtain advice and assistance from maximizing the efficient and effective use of the wellness and recreational resources at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. The committee serves as the spokesperson on suggested issues about facilities, programs, and services offered to the University community.
