The college houses Biology, Chemistry and Physics departments, the School of the Earth, Environmental and Marine Sciences, and the School of Mathematical and Statistical Sciences, with each offering a variety of undergraduate and graduate programs.  The college is also home to several research, education and outreach centers including Advanced Radio Astronomy, Gravitational Wave Astronomy, STEM Education, Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Advancement, and Urban Ecology, with facilities located in Brownsville, Edinburg, McAllen, Port Isabel, South Padre Island, and Boca Chica Beach. The college runs a Mathematics & Science Academy – a university high school that serves over 250 area gifted and talented students and the Nation’s largest UTeach program that prepares Math and Science majors for secondary education.

With over 210 faculty and 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students, it is the second largest college in the university.  We take pride in preparing students for diverse careers including medical and health professions (pre-med, pre-dental, pre-pharmacy) and graduate schools, emphasize hands-on experiential learning, community-engaged research and learning, advancing the frontiers of science from electrons to ecosystems, and developing innovative solutions for local and global grand challenges.  The college is on a growth trajectory with several new BS, MS and Ph.D. programs coming online in the near future.  Come join us and experience the joy of science and discovery!
