Suzanne El-Haj as a Biological Science Technician August 26, 2021

Suzanne El-Hal

Throughout my education I've been very involved and a well-rounded student. To me it's important to gain knowledge and have self-growth. All my accomplishments through school sparked my interest in environmentalism as a whole from food security and sustainability, to environmental awareness and conservation. During my first semester in college, I was introduced to the Agroecology program in the School of Earth, Environmental, and Marine Sciences at UTRGV. Agroecology is the deep understanding of the ecological implications of the ways we produce our food, fuel, and fiber, which are required to effectively manage these systems in ways that are more environmentally sustainable. McAllen ISD College Immersion Project November 20, 2019

students having the first day of college experience

Students had the opportunity to meet the Dean of College of Sciences, Dr. Vivian Incera, and the Dean of Engineering and Computer Sciences, Dr. Ala Qubbaj. The purpose was to give the students a "first day of college" experience. They were given two sessions to attend to in which they learned about some of the majors here at UTRGV. Students attended sessions which were given by three College of Sciences professors, Dr. Teresa Feria, Dr. Rupesh Kariyat and Dr. Cristina Villalobos. To end the day, there was a panel of community members from Wonderful Citrus to talk to us about the importance of going to college.
