Dr. Robin Choudhury is a plant pathologist and Assistant professor at the School of Earth, Environment, and Marine Sciences at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. His research group studies epidemiology & fungal pathogen biology to improve sustainable agriculture practices. His research program focuses on the relationship between plant pathogens and their hosts and how they interact with other organisms in the environment, like insect vectors and other microbes. Dr. Choudhury received his M.S. from University of California Davis for his work in modeling the effects of extreme temperature events on the growth and sporulation of the grapevine powdery mildew pathogen and developing a decision support system to aid in grower disease management efforts. Dr. Choudhury received his Ph.D. from University of California Davis for his work on understanding the epidemiology and control of spinach downy mildew in the Salinas and Pajaro Valleys of California. His postdoctoral work at the University of Florida focused on modeling social and biophysical network epidemic models of the invasive plant disease laurel wilt.
