Civic Agriculture and Civic Engagement in the Rio Grande Valley

A graduate student from the School of Environmental, Agriculture, and Marine Sciences at UTRGV, is studying the impact of civic agricultural behavior upon community engagement in the Rio Grande Valley. This project seeks to achieve the following objectives: first, use sociological theory to identify measurable variables of community engagement as pertains to the Rio Grande Valley. Second, test the proposed connection between civic engagement and civic agriculture. Third, evaluate the impact of civic agriculture on the Rio Grande Valley. Fourth, suggest agricultural development models best for overall community development and wellness. In Spring 2020, the Center for Survey Research field the Civic Agriculture and Civic Engagement in the Rio Grande Valley Survey asking RGV residents about their involvement in local agricultural activities and community engagement in this region. The phone Interviews are conducted across the valley in both Spanish and English by a team of student callers. If you have any question, please contact dongkyu.kim@utrgv.edu about the survey.
