UTRGV College of Liberal Arts
Welcome to the College of Liberal Arts at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. As the largest and most multidisciplinary college at UTRGV, we offer 12 academic departments, over 50 undergraduate and graduate programs, and a wide range of courses essential for all students. With nearly 7,000 students and more than 300 faculty members, we provide a dynamic and comprehensive educational experience.
Why Liberal Arts?
The liberal arts cover a wide range of academic disciplines that develop critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills. Whether you’re drawn to the Humanities—which explore human culture, ideas, and expression through subjects like literature, philosophy, history, and writing—or the Social Sciences, which examine human behavior and societies through fields like communication, psychology, criminal justice, sociology, political science, and anthropology, a liberal arts education equips you with the ability to think independently, analyze complex issues, and communicate effectively—skills that are highly valued by employers.
LA Network is the UTRGV College of Liberal Arts' monthly newsletter, celebrating faculty and student achievements, milestones, and the collective impact of our academic community.
