Focus Groups
Focus groups are a qualitative research method in which data are collected from a group of individuals in a moderated semi-structured interview.Focus groups can be conducted to gather preliminary data, to inform the development of survey questionnaires or as part of the post-survey process in order to provide additional context for interpreting results.
Focus groups provide the opportunity to probe attitudes and perceptions about a specific topic or to examine the concerts of individuals as members of the group interact with and respond to each other. Focus groups are appreciate for exploring topics that are sensitive or hard to observe.
The Center for Survey Research and Policy Analysis can recruit group members, design the interview guide, moderate and analyze results for focus groups.
