Building Maintenance
We deliver comprehensive building maintenance services across all UTRGV campuses, ensuring that university facilities remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. Our department is composed of skilled professionals across multiple trades—including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, masonry, locksmithing, and cooling plant operations. We also support custodial services, groundskeeping, and vehicle maintenance. With teams stationed in Edinburg, Brownsville, and Harlingen, we respond to routine and emergency maintenance needs, perform preventive upkeep, and assist with event setups and general campus operations. Our goal is to provide reliable, high-quality service that supports the daily activities and long-term sustainability of the university’s infrastructure.
Edinburg Maintenance
Led by Abraham Hernandez, the Edinburg team includes four assistant directors:
- Martin Ramirez – Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Preventive Maintenance
- John De La Garza – Carpentry, Painting, Masonry, Vehicle Mechanics, Locksmith
- David Ortega – Cooling Plant Operations
- Carlos Chavez – Grounds and Custodial Services
This team supports buildings in Edinburg, McAllen, and Rio Grande City.
Brownsville Maintenance
Also under Abraham Hernandez, the Brownsville team includes:
