The goal of the UTRGV Learning Center is to assist you, our students, by promoting academic success at all levels from freshman core courses all the way through upper-level courses. Our tutors are recommended and hand selected by our faculty based on their content knowledge, as well as their ability to work with students who are at various levels of their academic career.
Our purpose is to help you become independent learners. Everyone in the Learning Center works toward ensuring you succeed by providing various support services in a welcoming friendly environment. What we enjoy the most is seeing the light bulb in our students’ heads go off – that “aha moment.” Stop by and see us at the Learning Center and let us know how we can help you reach your goals.
Fall 2025 Hours
Fall tutoring is available from Tuesday, September 2, to Thursday, December 18. Join us in person in ELCTR 114 & BMSLC 2.107 or online by appointment.
- Monday - 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Tuesday - 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Wednesday - 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM
- Thursday - 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Friday - 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
The Learning Commons will be closed on Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you need to make an appointment?
No appointments are necessary to use our services in person. If you would like to meet with a tutor virtually, please make an appointment through EAB.
What materials should I bring to tutoring?
We recommended you bring any relevant study material such as a copy of your assignment, text book, PowerPoint slides, practice problems, notes, faculty instructions, previously graded assignments, and any questions you may have.
Is private tutoring available?
We do not offer private tutoring. Tutors are available free of charge during normal business hours.
Where are you located on the Brownsville Campus?
Our Main office is located at #8 the Music, Science, Learning Center building 2.118 with our Tutoring Commons is located at room 2.107. Please see these building identifiers by click on the campus map link below.
Where are you located on the Edinburg campus?
We are located between the science building and the library. Alternatively, please click below to view a copy of the Edinburg campus map. We are noted as building #32, the ELCTR (Edinburg Learning Center).
