Embedded Tutoring (Structured Learning Assistance)
In the Embedded Tutoring (ET) model, the tutor attends all classes together with the enrolled student(s). Embedded Tutors provide in-class assistance and hold outside-class sessions, ensuring the development of the student-tutor rapport in all learning environments. Embedded Tutors are knowledgeable peers familiar with the course syllabus, instructor expectations, assignment structures, and more. They undergo training to understand how collegiate-level students learn, what strategies to implement, as well as building personal professional development. Contrary to Teaching Assistants, Embedded Tutors DO NOT grade, conduct lessons, or proctor exams on behalf of the instructor. They do, however, act as model students who exhibit successful academic habits and growth mindsets.
