The Robert C. Vackar College of Business & Entrepreneurship Student Internship Program began with a vision of creating exceptional career opportunities for our students. The program is designed to motivate students to seek and secure next-level learning experiences beyond the classroom. When you participate in our program, you will have dedicated staff to support you during your academic journey.
Students
A resume is an essential step in presenting yourself professionally, it allows you to demonstrate your qualifications and gives a strong impression on your behalf to potential employers. When you invest time in crafting your resume, you are also:
- Showcasing your qualifications: A resume lists your educational background, work experience, skills, achievements, references and more! As you acquire more experience, you add it to your resume over time.
- Making strong, first impressions: A well-crafted resume is an excellent, first impression you will be making on employers which can grab their attention!
- Networking: Resumes are useful for networking events, job fairs and any other important events. Sharing your resume with contacts and potential employers can lead to opportunities you may have not otherwise encountered.
- Self-Assessing: Creating a resume allows you to not only list your qualifications over time, but it can help you identify areas of strength and areas which may need more experience.

In order to hire an intern, review the information and resources below. If this is the first time you hire an intern, please contact jerome.wiggines01@utrgv.edu for more assistance.
Timeframe: Internships must be advertised at least 2 months prior.
Work/Projects: Please ensure quality work assignments are given.
Supervision: Please ensure there is a supervisor/mentor to monitor the intern.
Platform: Please join Handshake for participation.
As part of the internship course grading process, an intern’s supervisor is required to complete a performance evaluation. Please contact the intern to provide these forms to you as well as an email address in order to submit the evaluation.
NOTE: Evaluation is mandatory for students taking the internship course. For students who are NOT taking the course, evaluation is not required.
