Admission Requirements 

Students applying for admission to the Robert C. Vackar College of Business & Entrepreneurship must meet the following requirements: 
  • Complete all 18 hours of Business Foundation Courses. 
  • Minimum of 27 credit hours in the General Education Core Curriculum, including ECON 2301 (before applying). 
  • Earn grades of “C” or better in all Business Foundation Core courses. 
  • Earn a grade of “C” or better in ECON 2301. 
  • Carry a minimum 2.6 GPA* (in the combined General Education Core Curriculum, Business Foundation Core, and in any of the following completed advanced courses: BLAW 3337, QUMT 3341, MARK 3300, and MGMT 3361. 

* This GPA calculation will include transfer coursework.

  • All students pursuing a bachelor's degree must apply, and be admitted, before they are allowed to enroll in the advanced major coursework for their degree. 

Note

  • Admission into UTRGV does not guarantee admission into the RCVCoBE.
  • All grades must appear on Degree Works, or on a transcript on file, in order for the application to be considered.
  • If the student is denied, the student will need to re-apply once all requirements are met.

Submitting Your Application for Admission

Before starting your application and preparing all required documents, make sure to read the following instructions thoroughly and plan accordingly. 

The estimated time to complete the application is 10 minutes. You will need to complete all the steps in order to submit your application.  If you do not complete the application in one go, your information will not be saved until it is submitted. Please plan accordingly when you start working on your application.  

All admission requirements must be met. All admission requirements must be met, and your final grades must be posted to your Degree Works. If you have pending, final grades, which have not been posted yet, you will need to wait until they are posted. 

27 credits of General Education Core Curriculum must be completed.  As part of the admission requirements, you must complete 27 credits of General Education Core Curriculum. This is calculated by adding up the completed courses on your Degree Works or GPA Guide which are part of the General Education Core Curriculum Requirements. 

You will need to submit a GPA Guide as part of your application.  
In the GPA Guide you need to list completed courses and grades in order to help you calculate your admission GPA. As you work on your application, you will come across a section which will require you to upload the document. The GPA Guides, based on your major, can be downloaded below. 

  • BBA GPA Guide: Accountancy, Economics, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Finance, Global Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, International Business, Management and Marketing Majors 
     
  • Economics (BA) GPA Guide 
     
  • Hospitality and Tourism Management GPA Guide

You may submit an unofficial transcript if your final grades are not posted on your Degree Works or Student Record. If you completed courses at a different college or university that are not reflected on your student record, you can attach a PDF copy of your unofficial transcript on your application.
