UTRGV Residence Halls offer housing for students, faculty, staff, and participants of university programs. To secure a spot, sign a Reservation Agreement for either a 9-month fall/spring lease or a 3-month summer lease. The Village and Casa Bella apartments also offer a 12-month lease option. Living on campus is a valuable addition to the student experience and space is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Housing Deposit and Application Fees
A $100.00 refundable security deposit is required for students applying for the 1st time to UTRGV on-campus housing. A one-time $50 application fee will be assessed for all new residents. The refund may be forfeited for several reasons, including but not limited to lease cancellation, violation of check-out procedures, improper check-out, facility damage, etc.

As a condition of living on campus, all students residing on campus are required to select one of the available meal plans for each semester to be used for on-campus dining.
A meal plan is required for all freshman residents regardless of which building they reside at the Edinburg campus.
An application to student housing does not guarantee a room assignment and all assignments are based on available bed inventory.
Meal Plan Options
UTRGV has a variety of food options on both campuses, so you don't have to worry about leaving campus. With multiple locations around campus, these dining locations will satisfy all your food cravings. If you want to skip lines, take advantage of our GrubHub app on campus. Our goal is to make it convenient for you to pick up something on the way to class and avoid the wait.
The Student Union food court has a variety of food options to choose from on both campuses. You can also visit our dining hall where you can use your meal plans, VBucks, or dining dollars. UTRGV also has different cafe locations to make sure you get your daily dosage of coffee.
Vaquero Bucks, also known as VBucks, is a prepaid expense plan in which your V OneCard can be used for purchases at retail locations throughout campus. Like Dining Dollars, they can be used to purchase meals. Unlike Dining Dollars, they can be used for beverage and snack vending, and retail goods at the Campus Stores.
All students residing on campus or commuting to campus have their choice to select one of the available meal plans for each semester to be used for on-campus dining. Each plan outlines a specific number of meals to be used per week at the Edinburg Dining Hall only. In addition, each plan includes a declining amount of Dining Dollars that can be used at any food venue on the Brownsville and Edinburg campuses.
Summer Student Housing
Requirements
Summer Housing is only available to students in the following groups:
- Student with active housing application and room assignment in fall/spring preceding the summer session
- Participating in Special Populations
- UTRGV Athletics Sports
- College Bridge Programs
- Department approved Conference or CAMP
Summer housing is not available for new students attending UTRGV. New students applying for housing must apply for housing at the beginning of the academic year during the fall term. Exceptions may be requested by emailing home@utrgv.edu and evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
Locations
Students enrolling for Summer Sessions can request to stay in one of our on-campus apartments. Each apartment houses up to four students. The apartments are fully furnished with air conditioning, full kitchens and utilities.
We have apartments available in Edinburg at The Village Apartments and Brownsville at The Casa Bella Apartments.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are there any cancellation fees?
- The department does not assess any early termination (cancellation) fees if you do not take occupancy of the room. Once a student takes occupancy of the room there is no refund of room charges.
- Do I have to stay for all the summer sessions?
- Students will stay for each contract period they apply for only.
