Account Holds

A student hold may be placed on your account due to several reasons and it can prevent you from adding or dropping courses, requesting a transcript, seeing your final grades, requesting an emergency loan, etc.

Follow these steps to find out if you have a hold:

  • Log in to http://my.utrgv.edu

  • Click on ASSIST

  • Go to the Student Services Tab

  • Click on Student Account

  • Select “View Holds”

The following reference guide contains the most common holds. Find out which office can assist you with the process of removing the hold.

  • 1 Drop out of 6 Remaining

    This hold doesn’t prevent anything. We use this counter to let you know how many drops you have left.
  • 2 Drop out of 6 Remaining

    This hold doesn’t prevent anything. We use this counter to let you know how many drops you have left.
  • 3 Drop out of 6 Remaining

    This hold doesn’t prevent anything. We use this counter to let you know how many drops you have left.
  • 4 Drop out of 6 Remaining

    This hold doesn’t prevent anything. We use this counter to let you know how many drops you have left.
  • 5 Drop out of 6 Remaining

    This hold doesn’t prevent anything. We use this counter to let you know how many drops you have left.
  • 6 Drop out of 6 Remaining.

    This hold doesn’t prevent anything. We use this counter to let you know how many drops you have left.
  • Admission GR Hold

    Contact the Graduate College at (956) 665-3661.
  • Admissions Hold

    Log in to ASSIST, click on Student Services, then on Student Account. Click on View Holds to see what transcript it’s pending. An Official transcript from the school indicated must be submitted to the office of Admissions.
  • Advisement Required

  • Balance greater than $500

    Please pay outstanding balance. Visit the Bursar’s office for more information.
  • Balance less than $500

    Please pay outstanding balance. Visit the Bursar’s office for more information.
  • CE ineligible Hold

    Email ce@utrgv.edu for more information.
  • Collections Hold

    Please pay outstanding balance. Visit the Bursar’s office for more information.
  • Comptrollers Hold

    If a clicker was borrowed, return the clicker to the appropriate department. See Hold section on ASSIST for more information.
  • Concurrent Enrollment Hold

    Email ce@utrgv.edu for more information.
  • Dean of Students Hold

    Contact the Dean of Students office at (956) 665-2260 or (956) 882-5140 or dos@utrgv.edu.
  • Defaulted

    To review your current loan status, log in to www.nslds.ed.gov. If you have already made payment arrangements, email manageyourloans@utrgv.edu using your UTRGV email account to ask for the hold to be  removed. Please allow 2-3 business days for the hold to be  removed from your account.
  • Early College HS Hold

    Email ce@utrgv.edu for more information.
  • Emergency Loan Hold

    Contact the Emergency Loan office at (956) 665-2723 or (956) 665-2191.
  • International Admissions

    Contact the International Admissions office at international@utrgv.edu.
  • International Student Hold

    Contact the International Admissions and Student Services office at international@utrgv.edu.
  • Library Hold

    Contact the Library to pay outstanding fines and fees at (956) 665-2005 or (956) 882-8221.
  • Loan Exit Session

    Log in to www.studentloans.gov and complete the Exit Counseling session. Please allow 2-3 business days for the hold to be removed from your account.
  • Meningitis Vaccine Hold

    Present a copy of your meningitis vaccination record at U Central.
  • NSF Check

    Contact the Bursar’s office at BursarOffice@utrgv.edu.
  • Orientation Hold

    Sign up for New Student Orientation thru my.utrgv.edu. Contact the Orientation office via email orientation@utrgv.edu, or call (956) 665-5206 or (956) 882- 7624 for more information.
  • Past Due State Loan

    Contact the Texas Higher Coordinating Board at (800) 242- 3062.
  • Past Due Student Loan

    To review your current loan status, log in to www.nslds.ed.gov. If you have already made payment arrangements, email manageyourloans@utrgv.edu using your UTRGV email account to ask for the hold to be  removed. Please allow 2-3 business days for the hold to be  removed from your account.
  • Perkins Exit Counseling

    Log in here to complete the Perkins Loan exit counseling. Please allow 2-3 business days for the hold to be removed from your account.
  • Police Dept Hold

    Contact Parking and Transportation Services at (956) 665- 2738.
  • Student Athlete Hold

    Contact the Student-Athlete Academic Advisor for more information.
  • TEACH Grant Exit Counseling

    Go to www.nslds.ed.gov. Click on the Exit Counseling option on the top menu. Start the TEACH Grant Exit Counseling session. Please allow 2-3 business days for the hold to be removed from your account.
  • Think About It Hold

    Complete the Think About It session at www.campusclarity.com and call the Student Rights and Responsibilities office at (956) 665-5375 after completion of the session to remove the hold.
  • TSI Deficient Advising Hold

    Schedule an advising appointment through EAB Labs.
  • UNIV 1301 Advising Hold

    Email univ@utrgv.edu to request the removal of the hold.
  • University Registrar Hold

    Contact the Registrar’s office at registrar@utrgv.edu.
  • Veteran Student Hold

    Contact the Military and Veterans Success Center at (956) 665-7934 or (956) 882-8980 or email veteranservices@utrgv.edu.
