Support Services
The Office of Academic Advising helps medical students navigate their educational journey and make decisions about their academic path by assisting students in accessing various resources that can support their academic success.
Medical Academic Advisors may assist students identify available resources, clarify policies and procedures, promote academic success workshops, recommend tutorial supports, and connect with faculty and tutors. The Educational Learning Specialist offers a range of services aimed at supporting students and may conduct assessments to identify students’ learning strengths, weaknesses, and preferences.
In addition, medical students are provided guidance and instruction on effective study skills aimed at techniques for time management, note-taking, reading comprehension, memory enhancement, and test preparation. Overall, these services play a vital role in supporting students’ academic success by providing individualized support and fostering a positive learning environment.
Help Sessions
The Office of Academic Advising and Support Services hosts tutor led Help Sessions for all courses. Trained tutors facilitate these sessions to support course content review and study strategies. Session times and locations are announced while courses are in session. Updates are posted in Brightspace, on campus TV monitors, and through classroom announcements
