Join Us for DPRIT-Ready Information Sessions! Hosted by Dr. Megan Keniry, Assistant Vice President for Research Enhancement, these sessions will guide you through UTRGV’s strategic approach, the pre-proposal process, and collaboration opportunities. Even if you’re unsure whether your research fits, attend and discover how your expertise can contribute to advancing dementia research.
The Texas Legislature has created the Dementia Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (DPRIT) with a historic $3 billion investment to fund research on dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and related disorders—up to $300 million annually for Texas institutions
This is a high-priority institutional initiative, and we will invest significant resources to ensure UTRGV is positioned for success.
NSF CAREER Bootcamp
We are excited to announce a 5-week NSF CAREER Bootcamp coordinated in partnership with Maureen Bonnefin of Affinity Grant Insights, LLC. This intensive program is designed to guide early-career faculty through the essential components of preparing a competitive NSF CAREER proposal.

Write-Ins for Faculty Grant Development
We are offering dedicated “Write-In” sessions designed to provide faculty with uninterrupted time and a supportive environment to focus on writing and implementing their grant proposals. During these sessions, participating faculty will have access to specialized staff with expertise in writing and grant development, available to offer guidance, feedback, and technical support.

Join us for the COMPASS Coffee Chat: NSF Grants, featuring Dr. Volker M. Quetschke, Associate Dean for Doctoral Recruitment at the Graduate College and Instrument Science Division Chair for the LIGO Scientific Collaboration; Dr. Constantine Tarawneh, Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Sr. Associate Dean for the College of Engineering and Computer Science, and Founding Director of the UTCRS and NSF CREST MECIS Centers at UTRGV; and Dr. Farid Ahmed, Assistant Professor and Olegario Vázquez Raña Faculty Fellow in Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering. Our presenters will share their success stories in securing NSF funding, the strategies that worked, and practical tips to help you craft competitive proposals and advance your research.
COMPASS Silos to Synergy Branching Out Across Disciplines
From Silos to Synergy offers UTRGV researchers an opportunity to look beyond typical university structure and learn about research and collaborative opportunities across disciplines. Connect your passion and expertise with other researchers and look for opportunities to learn from and engage with Faculty Research Fellows. The interdisciplinary theme of the April 17th Branching Out Across Disciplines. This event will feature brief presentations by UTRGV researchers, highlighting topics within the seven research pathways, with ample time for networking. Light refreshments will be served.
New Investigator Series
This comprehensive, cohort-based workshop is specifically designed for research-appointed faculty, including tenure and tenure-track. Delivered through a virtual E-learning platform hosted on Brightspace, the series provides a structured pathway for securing external research funding. Participants will be guided through the entire proposal development process, from identifying appropriate funding opportunities to preparing and submitting a complete and competitive proposal.
