Limited Submissions
Limited Submissions
Limited Submissions are competitive funding opportunities in which the sponsor only allows a limited number of proposals from a given institution. Extra submissions can result in rejection of all those submitted by that institution. Most grant funding opportunities are considered ‘open,’ which means an institution can submit as many proposals as possible they feel are competitive. However, limited submissions opportunities restrict the number of proposals that will be considered. For example, if the institution can only submit one application in response to a specific request for proposals, it would be considered a limited submission.

The Process
Submittable is a tool that allows for electronic submission and review of limited submission competitions and is much improved from the previous email-based process. The entire process is automated and easier to track as the submission, review and selection process is completed through Submittable. To apply, please submit materials via limited submission opportunities linked to submittable website or contact us for application directions.
Visit our Research Enhancement webpage to view the Limited Submissions table and Submittable login button. Additionally, when you access the submittable page, you will see a table listing the active and upcoming opportunities, program name, funding agency and the deadlines. When you click submit you will be redirected to the UTRGV Submittable website to get more information about the opportunity selected and submit an application.
NOTE: To access Submittable you do not have to create an account, you will be able to sign in using the single sign-on option with your UTRGV credentials.
- A tabulated list of limited submission programs in which the sponsor and internal competition deadlines will be listed. The table will provide each active limited submission opportunity to submit pre-proposal application through the UTRGV online submission portal. Links are not activated unless an internal competition will be accepting submissions.
- Pre-proposals will now be submitted online and will allow investigators to track status and review feedback for current work in a single location.
- Submittable will also serve as a repository for the faculty, as they will be able to go back and see their previous pre-proposals submitted.
- Email notifications will be automated, upon submission of pre-proposal, investigators will receive confirmation.
- Reviewers comments will be available for all pre-proposals and will be provided by email.
