Research Publications

Invest in Inclusive Leadership and Embeddedness

Dr. Debjani Ghosh and Dr. Jorge Gonzalez's research highlights the importance of inclusive leadership and organizational embeddedness in retaining and motivating employees, particularly in diverse workplaces. Their study, published in the Journal of Management Studies, underscores that leaders should understand and address diversity-related challenges to enhance employee retention and performance.

Gratitude Promotes Experiential Consumption

Dr. Sunaina Chugani's study reveals that gratitude-based marketing campaigns increase the preference for experiential consumption while reducing materialistic purchases. Published in the Journal of Business Research, the research suggests that practicing gratitude enhances a sense of abundance, which in turn lowers materialism and promotes sustainable consumption.

Climate Change and the Cost of Bank Loans

Dr. Siamak Javadi's study, published in the Journal of Corporate Finance, found that businesses with higher climate risk exposure face increased costs of bank loans. The research, using data from 32,999 bank loans, reveals that banks factor in climate risk when determining loan terms, leading to higher loan spreads for firms in vulnerable areas.

Keep it Civil

Dr. Jennifer Welbourne's study found that workplace incivility leads to counterproductive work behaviors, especially in highly involved employees. Organizations can reduce these behaviors by promoting civility and providing coping resources.

Smart Phone Addiction and Well-being

Dr. Murad Moqbel’s study reveals that smartphone addiction negatively impacts personal well-being by depleting mental and physical resources, particularly when smartphones are used for pleasure. Effective intervention strategies could help mitigate these adverse effects.
