Mathematics is both an exact science and a highly creative endeavor; a field of study that develops problem-solving skills and a passion for inquiry. Mathematics majors are surprisingly attractive to many professional branches in our society, particularly intelligence, technology, finance, security, engineering and physics. Mathematics Majors with Teacher Certification are attractive to the growing demand for teachers in high schools, middle schools and elementary schools. A BS in Mathematics will prepare the graduate for a competitive position in society and provide the necessary preparation graduate for an exciting and rewarding teaching position and for graduate studies.

The undergraduate Mathematics major can choose one of the following concentrations: Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, Secondary School, Middle School, Statistics, Science and Engineering, and Economics.

- Upon graduation, B.S. in Mathematics students will perform mathematical procedures and computations at the level described in the core undergraduate courses.
- Upon graduation, B.S. in Mathematics students will communicate mathematics clearly and professionally in written and oral form.
- Upon graduation, B.S. in Mathematics students will demonstrate a sound conceptual understanding of mathematics through the construction and evaluation of mathematically rigorous and logically correct proofs.

Statistics is the discipline that educates a human being about Data. Data arise in all academic disciplines as well as in all real life situations. Experts in education, health profession, business and industry need the help of statistics for better understanding of their own subjects. Using a statistical software package, any layman can generate tables and graphs. But statistical software does not provide the intellectual capability to decide how a sample has to be collected, or how a sample can be made representative. This can be achieved through expertise in statistics. A BS Degree in statistics can provide a person with all these knowledge and understanding and also more importantly a lucrative career due to the growing needs of dealing with Big Data in astronomical, medical and various biological fields.

- Upon graduation, B.I.S. in Mathematics students will perform mathematical procedures and computations at the level described in the core undergraduate courses.
- Upon graduation, B.I.S. in Mathematics students will communicate mathematics clearly and professionally in written and oral form.
- Upon graduation, B.I.S. in Mathematics students will demonstrate a sound conceptual understanding of mathematics through the construction and evaluation of mathematically rigorous and logically correct proofs.

The accelerated Bachelor's and Master's (4+1) degree program is designed by to provide students with high academic achievements the opportunity to link advanced undergraduate coursework with graduate coursework and degree completion. The program will allow students to get an early start on master's degree while completing the Bachelor's degree.

Mathematics Majors with Teacher Certification are attractive to the growing demand for teachers in middle schools and elementary schools. A BIS in Middle School Mathematics will prepare the graduate for an exciting and rewarding teaching position and provide the necessary preparation for graduate studies in Mathematics Education.
