Knapp Medical Center is an award-winning, not-for-profit hospital in Weslaco, Texas. With 227 beds, the community hospital specializes in orthopedics, emergency care, interventional radiology, wound care, obstetrics and gynecology, gastroenterology, surgery, and critical care. Knapp is a Level III Trauma Center and an Advanced Primary Stroke Center. The hospital has been providing quality and compassionate healthcare to the Mid-Valley area of South Texas since 1962. More than 200 physicians serve on the hospital’s medical staff. In addition to the hospital, Knapp Medical Center operates a Family Health Center in Mercedes, Texas along with the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Knapp Medical Center also participates in health fairs and hosts speakers on various health topics through its “Senior Health Talks” series.
Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco has received an excellence award for patient safety from Healthgrades, a national firm that specializes in information about hospitals. The distinction places Knapp among the top 5% of all hospitals reporting patient safety data, as evaluated by Healthgrades.
