Scholarly Activities

Current Family Medicine ACGME requirements are:

  • IV.D.3. Resident Scholarly Activity
    • * IV.D.3.a) Residents must participate in scholarship.
      • D.3.b) Residents should complete two scholarly activities, at least one of which should be a quality improvement project.

Family medicine residents must participate in Quality Improvement and Patient Safety Projects. During weekly didactics, residents are an active part of Journal Club presentation and PIP. To meet the Family Medicine requirements, residents present two projects, one project during their second year and another during their third year of residency at the Family Medicine Research Symposium. Residents are an essential part of the Hospital and University committees; their participation provides information and support around the medical community.

UTRGV high commitment to research supplies with the mentorship and information to develop quality improvement projects.
