International Exchange Student
Once you have been formally nominated to participate in an exchange program at the UTRGV you should receive an application link . Here are some important things to know about the application process before you get started.
Inbound Exchange Application Process
When you apply as an exchange student, you will work International Student Services (ISS).
Deadlines
The application deadline is cyclical—occurring every year on the following dates.
- Fall and Academic Year (August start): March 1
- Spring and Calendar Year (January start): September 1
Minimum Eligibility Requirements
- Enrollment as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at an institution that has a bilateral student exchange agreement with UTRGV. To confirm whether your university has an active agreement, contact the office or individual who coordinates exchange programs on your home campus.
- Nomination from your home university to participate in the exchange program.
- Completion of at least one year of university studies prior to the start of the exchange program.
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale).
- English language proficiency, demonstrated by one of the following minimum test scores:
- TOEFL iBT 61 (including iBT Home, iBT Paper Edition, and iBT MyBest Scores)
- TOEFL Essentials 6.5 (including MyBest Scores)
- Duolingo English Test 95
- IELTS 6.0
- Certified evidence of financial support, showing at least $2,500 USD per month to cover the cost of living, housing, meals, and personal expenses.
- Copy of a valid passport (must be valid for the duration of the exchange).
