INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
The mission is to enrich the academic and cultural experience by providing quality support to our UTRGV international student population. The rich diversity brought to UTRGV by international students is a crucial element of our unique culture and a truly distinctive aspect of our community. We celebrate each other’s differences in a way that is welcoming and inclusive for everyone while also embracing the fact that a shared desire joins each and every student here for a world-class education.
Essential Functions:
- Complete the final international admissions process by issuing the proper immigration documentation for students to begin their studies in the U.S.
- Conduct top-quality orientation programs and cultural events to help our international students to integrate and adjust to the new academic, cultural, and social life at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
- Effectively monitor international students’ good standing through the Student Exchange Visitor Information System from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
- Provide a wide variety of services and valuable programs that will assist their acclimation to UTRGV and the Rio Grande Valley by tapping the many resources and talent at the University.
- Serve as a liaison with our U.S. governmental agencies, U.S. Consulates, and sponsors that support international student education.
