The Center follows the University’s academic calendar, offering treatment services during three 11-14- week semesters each year. Clients are assigned to new clinicians at the beginning of each semester. The purpose of this policy is (1) to provide student clinicians with a variety of experiences and (2) to foster the client’s independence and ability to carry over improved communication skills from one communication situation to another. Fees for clinical services vary according to the nature of the services rendered. Clients are not denied services on the basis of inability to pay the fee set for services. A sliding fee scale is offered for this purpose. Fee schedules are on file in the Speech and Hearing Center. Services include the following:

The Speech-Language Screenings and Audiological Screenings are provided by the Center free of charge. All other services provided by the Speech and Hearing Center incur a fee.
Speech-Language Evaluations
Speech-Language Evaluations include both norm-referenced and criterion-referenced procedures as warranted.
Speech-Language Re-Evaluations
Speech-Language Re-Evaluations are completed after a 3 year period unless a re-evaluation is recommended prior to the 3 year period. Re-Evaluations include both norm-referenced and criterion-referenced procedures as warranted.
Speech-Language Therapy Sessions
Speech-Language Therapy includes treatment for a diagnosed disorder. Speech-Language Therapy sessions are typically conducted for one hour sessions two times a week.
Speech-Language Screenings
Speech-Language Screenings are utilized to quickly identify individuals who may have a communication disorder. If a concern is identified, individuals are referred for a Speech-Language Evaluation.
Audiological Evaluations
The Audiological Evaluation takes approximately one hour and 15 minutes to complete. The evaluation may include case history, otoscopic exam, puretone audiometry, immittance audiometry, and speech audiometry, as deemed appropriate for diagnostic purposes.
Audiological Re-Evaluations
An audiological re-evaluation takes approximately one hour to complete. It may include case history, otoscopic exam, and a portion of the puretone audiometry, if deemed appropriate for follow-up purposes.
Audiological Screenings
Audiological Screenings take 3-5 minutes to complete. It includes checking of air conduction to rule out a possible hearing disorder. For individuals who fail the hearing screening, a complete Audiological Evaluation is then recommended.

Any individual may contact the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) if they feel a serious offense related to this Communication Sciences and Disorders program's compliance with accreditation standards has occurred. Complaints may also be made to the CAA that involve behavior that is in violation of ASHA's Code of Ethics. Please note that the CAA should not be contacted for the purpose of airing complaints of a general or unspecified nature. The CAA has specific guidelines established which must be completed and can be found on ASHA's website under Procedures for Complaints Against Graduate Education Programs link.
