Students who want to register for more hours must fill out an academic overload request form and get approval from the Department (from the Chair or Designee) and the College (from the Dean of Designee) before the form is forwarded to the Registrar’s Office for processing. 

Students who wish to take more than 18 hours, need to submit the following documentation to complete the Over Hour Credit Petition packet: 

1. Over Hour Credit Petition Form; 
2. Most recent DegreeWorks report that reflects your current GPA; 
3. Your plan of action to handle the overload; 

Over Hour Credit Petition Packets can be turned in at the Brownsville or Edinburg office.

Instructors have the right to judge the quality of academic work for their courses as they see fit. Consequently, the College Appeals Committee will not consider any appeal that is made on the basis of a disagreement with an instructor over the content of an exam answer, paper, or other assignment.
